Punishments/Clarifications - Week 10
Trade Deadline
As we know after this weekend, it will be the official last week of the trade deadline. You know my beliefs in what teams should do so I won't re-hash that. But I do see some crazy good players out there and available for those pushing to win the chip and vice versa for keepers for the bad teams.
Punishments/Clarifications
Nobody panic there is no rule changes. But lets clarify a few things.
1.) Shotgun ruling - I disagree with Alan on it, but Alan is the shadow commissioner so the rule reads:
If you have a player that scores 0 and or negative points, regardless of injury, you have to send a video of the shotgun.
2.) League Punishments: We currently don't have one this year. It has been tossed around and is not finalized yet (to my knowledge) that the loser of next year will have to throw in an extra $100 at the end of the year. From their Dustin will go backwards in time and look at high point scorers for the week and pay them out at the end of the year.
I am in total agreeance of the fact that doing physical or dumbass punishments at 32 just isn't in my bag anymore.
The one thing I disagree with this new proposition is that teams at the bottom maybe trading away their non-keepers and getting keepers in their place that can't fulfill the shoes that just left. I do know that sentence sucked and makes no sense so let me use an example.
Lets take Austin's team. He should be 100% shopping Lamar and Bowers for guys he can keep next year. He kept both last year so they are essentially useless. But keeping those two guys can quite literally win him games alone.
I don't have the strongest of stances here and am not trying to cause any issues, but I think that is something that needs to be considered.
Side Note: I haven't said anything about it yet in the group text, but Austin starting Travis Hunter who was put on IR Wednesday before the Jags played Sunday deserves some sort of further punishment. That's unacceptable. I am very happy that didn't impact the the league at all.
Seeing these standings knowing only the top 6 get into the playoffs...... If I was Dustin, Will, and or Doug and got bumped out of the race for playoffs because you started a guy on IR, causing Dan to be 5-4 and jump me for the last playoff spot in a $1,000 payout to the champ. I truly don't know what I would do. Even typing this I am getting mad. I would for fucking sure ask for my money back/make you pay me $100.
League last place punishment that will be implemented this year and the following years until the day I die: After finishing out soccer game Tuesday night, Dustin, Joe, and myself joined Todd for a quick beer to provide him company while he had a break between his double header. I proposed that we add a new league punishment and Dustin accepted it, said nobody can complain about it, and if you don't like it leave the league.
LAST PLACE PUNISHMENT: This league was always designed from the beginning to have the same people year in and out (RIP MATT ROW). Along with winning the bag of course. But truly meant to keep us all connected even if you are a piece of shit Philly resident (sup) or live where the sun burns brightest and your skin isn't meant for it and you lather on sunscreen twice a day like you brush your teeth. In honor of the leagues purpose the last place punishment is:
- You have to plan a day, event, and or trip that the majority of the league can make. You have from the final whistle of Fantasy football championship Monday till the first kickoff of the next NFL season to get it figured out. Life is starting to fly by and this year we have seen each other less and less. With us now hitting the kid era, more family events, and overall our lives just keep getting busier the league loser will be the one to bring us together.
Examples (wives are highly highly encouraged to be invited but don't have to be):
- A house party
- A pool party
- A beer Olympics party
- A brunch and day drinking downtown
- A day drinking and night out downtown
- A group walk at Oak Openings then hit the brewery
- A group trip Hocking Hills
- Axe Throwing and or escape room
- A football Sunday at someones house (has to be scheduled before the kickoff of the season though).
For those who don't own a home and or those who don't live in the area. You still have to "plan" something. Get a google doc/texting poll/etc that has dates and people can give you their open weekends. Speaking for myself, but I am confident that others feel this way, if I don't take last but picking on Austin, if he does. My house would love to have a party and in the summer a Gyurke pool party is always open. Actively bounce ideas off the group, ask for their opinions, and keep it light. This doesn't have to be the craziest trip/plan ever.
TLDR: Last place punishment this year and as long as the league lasts has to find a date where we can all hangout from January-September.
