Week 1 - Over Reaction

The bubble has been officially popped and the season is off. As you've checked the scores almost minute by minute on how your team did this week and scroll past others we start to overreact. My goal here today is to give you the truth about your team and you on your own can decide if it's an overreaction or an accurate one. Before we dive into the matchups here are a few things I think are worth noting:

1.) Total Passing Touchdowns of Week 1's conclusion:

2019: 61

2020: 52

2021: 61

2022: 51

2023: 37

2024: 35

2.) The highest-scoring TE in the top 12 drafted ADP

- Was Kyle Pitts with 11.5 on a touchdown that shouldn't have even counted....

3.) The average NFL passing yards in week 1:

- One of the lowest in week one in a decade at an average of: 200 total passing yards. Along with that only 1 QB broke 300 total passing yards and only two threw for 4 TD's.

Reactions:

Myself- If I told you that Kincaid + Chase + Olave = 17 total points and I still scored 136 I'd laugh in your face. I don't like giving any reactions on my team from there because I am always looking to trade and making improvements and doing these I still believe hurt myself in trading value. So sorry not sorry but that's all you get from me.

Doug- I was going to chalk up the Packers/Eagles game to just being weird. The NFL clearly doesn't watch soccer as anybody that does could've told you that field was going to be an ice rink. I flip-flopped on Josh Jacobs all summer as you saw me draft him in the Barksville Katherdog league but he didn't look great and now throw in Love is going to be out a few weeks I am officially worried. I praised your Jerome Ford pick/even tried to trade for him. The Browns are so fucking awful the CD wasn't even needed within 10 minutes of that game. Mike Evans ~schoker~ is doing Mike Evans things. I am terrified at the Odunze, Pitts, and Ridley combo. Caleb looked fucking atrocious against the known world-beater defense of the Titans (sarcasm). Cousins looked fucking horrible against the Steelers and Will Levis looked horrible also. I was high on Ridley and Pitts coming in and boy oh boy it might be bad. Put it in the tickler file but Najee being a straight-up workhorse is not something I had on my bingo card; I don't know if that's because of Warren's recovery from injury or not but nonetheless pay attention to that. GGS.

Dan:
I am not saying you should smash the panic button, but I do think the glass case over the panic button has been lifted. Fun Fact: The Bengals have been pouring more money and more draft picks into this O-line than almost everyone in the NFL (Jets being the team that's done more). Also fun fact: Joe Burrow had over 5 seconds in the pocket before he got pressured. That's the third-highest of all time during his career and he had the lowest amount of pressures in his career this game. Maybe its because the Bengals always start slow but as a Chase owner I need answers from you. This CMC calf injury is raising flags all over the internet today. Jordan Mason said he knew by Friday he was starting, and Kyle Shan says it was a game-time decision. Another report came out today saying CMC is likely to miss next week. "But Kyle, I got JK Dobbins and Tony Pollard on the bench" well JK Dobbins was in a truly split backfield and was two long long runs away from averaging like 2 yards a carry. Tony Pollard on the other hand was definitely the #1 back for the Titans which is huge going forward. All reports out of Titans camp was a 50/50 backfield and it certainly wasn't. Pollard's 16 carries to Tyjae's 4 is a great outlook season long. Kyren played the toughest run defense in the league so I am not worried. But with DJ Moore in that offense I am nervous. Don't forget the triple-stacked Texans that gave you 32 points... Pickens was robbed of another deep 40-yard bomb and is the true #1 in this offense that can't score touchdowns..... again I am just lifting the glass.

Will - I was worried coming into this year about Bijan splitting and he didn't which is awesome. I was worried about Walker in this new Seattle offense but he also looked awesome (pending injury). I was never worried about Monty in Detriot. Some people were clambering over Gibbs but the truth is Monty and Gibbs basically straight-up traded drives and in this high-powered offense is fantastic.  Brian Thomas though on your bench as a rookie looked like the best player in the Jags offense and the #1 receiver which I think is massive moving forward into this year. Tua and Engram were not good in a week 1 that was not good for QBs and TE's. WAIT TIMEOUT TIMEOUT - I forgot to mention Doug having Baker on his team slinging the fucking rock for 4 TD's. So lets take time now to give Doug his flowers by posting a screenshot of Baker's stats:

When I goggled his stats this is what came up. Anywho Wilson played one of the top defenses in the league and was clearly the #1 target for Rodgers; However, Rodger's weird boner for Lazard could be a problem come red zone time and is just something to watch going forward. Cooper dropped an open touchdown so I am not totally out on him yet, Shaheed I think can be a great flex play, and Coleman is in a good offense that is basically just Josh Allen. Overall if this receiver crew is currently screaming a bunch of WR 2's and 3's and if they don't show me more next week, you might be in trouble.

Dustin - Amon + Kelce = 10 points bahahahaha. Not much you can do with that. Purdy had two dropped TD's by that punk ass pussy bitch Aiyuk. Jones was better than expected and Cook was about as expected. Both are PPR machines and I don't expect much less or much more from them. CMC being out did and if he's still out will provide even more value for Deebo as he plays runningback also. Higgins being out obviously forced Doubs in and Ladd did score. But Ladd's touchdown was because the raiders raidered... this Harabaugh offense is exactly what everyone thought it was and here is Herbert's stats:

So either he gets in the endzone or he could be a complete dud because this isn't the slinging Herbert offense. I'm assuming you are already hitting the waiver wire in hopes of filling the Doubs hole now that Love is out. All in all, I think this team is fine just needs a few tweaks.

Brian - As one of Kirk's favorite and my favorite drafts it showed. I am still nervous about the stack of Saquon and AJ because if the Eagles put up a stinker you also put up a stinker. I am also not out on Metcalf, Taylor, and Kirk. That Seattle game was so fucking weird and they never could get into rhythm. Taylor played an in-division tough matchup and still scored. Kirk clearly did not look great but I still think can provide PPR value. BUT all that being said Godwin isn't playing the Commanders defense every week and I don't know if Godwin is a 20-point weekly player. Also Vikings defense was a great start haha. Lastly, your bench is actually shit. I know that's not a problem now but that's going to be a problem when bye weeks hit or injuries hit.

Kirk -

Before we get to what might be on fire, I am taking no stock of Dak and or Andrews being bad. Again bad weeks for that position across the board. Also as everyone panics because of Likely compared to Andrews on the Thursday night game I am not. I've watched every play Andrews ran and he was bracketed in triple coverage all fucking game. But I said it and have been screaming it from the mountaintops that this Ravens offense is not good so take that for what you will. Etienne had a weird game and I think this is a low for him. I was a Mixon hater and I come before you today to apologize for that because I couldn't have been more wrong. So why the fire Spongebob meme? Kirkobain's ACL injuried leg happens to be the back plant foot where QB's get their power from. Newflash: He still is having major problems with that. That or the Falcons having 54 total yards of offense in the second half may make them the worst team ever. As a London owner in other leagues I am fucking terrified. Aiyuk dropped two pretty easy touchdown catches and looked like shit. Granted as the year goes on, he should get way better. But its fantasy and winning now > being forced to win later. Bryce Young is broken beyond repair and I thank jesus christ every day we sent that little cunt in Diontae to die there. JSN's fantasy outlook was pending on if Lockett can still play football. Lockett was easily the best WR in that offense last week and hasn't lost a step. Like Brian, going and looking at your bench it also looks like shit. Chase Brown was a shot in the dark so I am not hating on that as we talked about on draft night but he's clearly the #2 there.

Austin - I hated this team but now instead of hate I am paying way more attention to it. Having the combo of Lamar and Richardson should either 1 provide trade value later and or 2 now that Lamar apparently missed practice Monday for go knows what means you won't be hurting at QB. That bears offense I have to imagine it getting better but holy fuck their run game was horrible. On top of that you started fucking Noah Fant over Brock Bowers is all time funny. I understand you drafted yourself into a stack with Adams and Bowers but just play the better player. Adams was fine, Darnold looks like he's going to be good enough for JJ, and even though Mitchell's stat line looks horrible he actually had two wide open touchdowns that Richardson just missed him on. This Indy offense looks like Pittman 95% of the time and then Mitchell and Pierce are the homerun hitters. So all in all don't hate the flex play. Remember how you said maybe 9 million times eckler is the clear #1 at the commanders? I'd like to see what you say now. Stevenson I am not 100% sold on by any means and I think the Bengals were just that bad. But if he gives another week like that this upcoming week, expect a text saying "I was wrong". Having Jake Ferguson go down and Bradin Cooks on the bench is massive going into next week. If there is any receiver I want from the Panthers its Thelian and I am typically very against having 2 defenses on a roster, but I cannot wait for the Jets defense against thee pick 6 god of Will Levis. Overall curious going forward on this team.

Alan - Comes as advertised. I expected the 4 stack of Pacheo, Hill, Devonta, Hall to do this and probably more every single week. So not much to comment on. Jake Ferguson's injury now means you go TE shopping and again QB's throw out the window this week. I said it during the draft, after the draft, and I am going to say it again: if you aren't going back and looking at your draft and kicking yourself for some of the decisions you made now is the time.

Watson is in a 5 WR battle in Green Bay regardless if Love wasn't injured. Keenan did drop a TD but that Bears offense is a 3 WR battle and did throw for a total of 94 yards against apparently the greatest defense of all time the Titans. After Worthy's performance Thursday I have no idea what the Chiefs are going to do with Hollywood and the rest of your bench is all meh. I think you maybe looking at 2 flex spots that may not get you many points with this current roster.

Cody -

It is full "Panic at the Disco" time for you bud. Rachaad White looked great and Mahomes Week 1. But Puka is now on IR, Mostert at 31 is already banged up, and Mclaurin who I think will get better; is in an offense where they aren't letting Daniels rip it yet which is killing him. Kittle is always going to be either boom or bust with this 49ers offense. I am so out on Stefon Diggs. He either needs to become Micheal Thomas and or you could be in trouble. His entire route tree/role in this offense is just slants. Yes he scored twice but he's going to have to make a living in fantasy on scoring twice or its just slants until he dies. Worthy I think will remain great in this Chiefs offense but Hollywood is coming back and Kecle ain't going for 2 catches weekly. I do like singletary on the bench in the aspect of he's on the field literally every play so at least he gets the ball. Lockett as I mentioned earlier looked to be the best WR on the team but he is old. You're the first one with a significant injury with Puka but the goodness is next week people will be joining you.

Chris- Is this sustainable? To be honest I don't fucking know. Allen is going to have to do this every game which is awesome for fantasy. The Packers draw up plays on purpose to get Jayden Reed the ball which is why he was the fantasy darling this offseason and the first Packers WR off the board. Zach Moss looked every part of the #1 back for the Bengals. Kamara will always be a PPR god and machine with Checkdown Carr and Dennis Allen. Along with that Mcbride had an off game. On the opposite side, I absolutely hated keeping Zay Flowers and drafting Henry. I hate stacks and Henry isn't going to be the 30 carries-a-game guy anymore according to John Harbaugh quoted this week. But Jayden Reed won't be playing with Love or on an ice rink so it will be interesting to see what he does. I don't know what Pittman's season outlook is as Richardson was 9/19... He completed 9 total passes in an NFL football game. Lots of variance on this team and I don't really know what to make of it yet.

Lukas - I think this is the best team in the league pending Kyler and Marvin figure it out. My main takes back after the draft was you got these guys higher than you could which is true. But the flipside is Brian Robinson is everything as promoted. Along with its being reports Rashee is playing the whole season without suspension. Malik Nabers is the only target for the Giants and it appears the Giants will have to throw 400 times a game to possibly win one. Waddle when healthy is in the worst case still a PPR machine. Gibbs doing gibbs things and I can't wait until people see who Whittington is this coming week. Even though its a loss you have the Laporta + Harrison = 9 points haha joke. This team is a fucking wagon and be on the lookout when you play them.

Rankings going into Week 2:

1.) Lukas

2.) Wilson

3.) Kyle

4.) Alan

5.) Doug

6.) Dustin

7.) Chris

8.) Will

9.) Austin
